Baby Crow Productions presents 13 AND NOT PREGNANT

“If your loneliness is killing you and you must confess you still believe, your best bet is to grab a ticket for 13 and Not Pregnant, an original devised 1-woman show by the imaginative and inspiring Joy Donze. The bulk of the text for 13 and Not Pregnant is sourced directly from Donze's Middle School journals, and the entries do not disappoint. Whether it's her first French kiss, a Halloween extravaganza, best friend/enemy Mandy's birthday, or public school boyfriends, one thing always remains constant: the deeply honest and private perspective of a blossoming teenager in the mid-ninties.”

Before Edinburgh: Two Shows from New York Based Companies Previewing at The Secret Theatre, New York

“13 & Not Pregnant is a one woman show written and performed by Joy Donze* and directed by Mia Capotorto Sommese. 13 & Not Pregnant won Best Comedy at the United Solo Festival 2016 in NYC and has been described as "hilariously poignant and shockingly honest." (Karen Ludwig)

With 90's musical dance tantrums, heartbreaking journal entries, and the severing of dolls heads, 13 & Not Pregnant presents the aggressively hormonal writings of a Midwestern, nineties, pre-teen as she navigates her erratically evolving girlhood. Verbatim entries from Joy Donze's 6th grade journal were massaged, spliced and diced in the rehearsal room with Director Mia Capotorto Sommese. The queer identified, NY-based actress explains, "I wanted to go back and explore this crucial pivotal time we all go through; Puberty. When we search within our tormenting selves and dare to ask... who am I?"“

"Watching Joy is like driving down an empty motorway on a summer's night, in the fast lane, with your full beam on, listening to some bangin' tunes, for the WHOLE SHOW!"

“Likeable and spontaneous, Donze captures the sense of being poised between childhood and adolescence, when emotions are painted in technicolour and moods vascillate wildly from joy and exuberance to outrage and self-loathing. “I wanna die,” she pouts. “Maybe.””
